I look in the mirror and stare at my face
Two blue eyes, given with grace
And as I smile the crows feet show
But I don't mind, I'm all aglow
My hair shows signs of growing age
But I don't mind, I'm like a page
Of words that hold such wisdom deep
A flower that awakens from winters sleep
Softness in my skin so smooth
I gaze in awe not wanting to move
Love and light in my touch
A smile that says I care so much
And as I look down at my body I know
There could be improvement, sag starting to show
But inside it all is a heart of gold
And a soul who is ready to gently unfold
So come if you dare to see my light
Like a distant star I shine so bright
My mission to help all in need
With God's help I will succeed

Image: snow in April
One day you were but a seed in the ground
Damp and darkness all around
By a miracle you started to grow
And through the surface began to show
Warm air and sun were your food
With rain to refresh and lift your mood
And very soon you began to flower
Showing your beauty hour on hour
But then things changed and the wind did blow
Bringing cold air and lots of snow
Too much for your delicate body to withstand
I can only hold you in my hand
As your life has been taken after such a short time
A sadness surrounds me no reason or rhyme
And it makes me think of my life too
And to appreciate each day anew
The sun shines now and begins to nourish
Nurture and grow and start to flourish
So for now I have all I need
But one day I'll go back to being a seed

Image:
I'm in a different world, connecting with the earth
Trees and stream and birds singing for all their worth
Healing with the drum, let the sound vibrate
All around the world, yes, it's not too late
I sit still for a while, time has no meaning here
Chanting, singing, spirit speaks
Above the wind so loud and clear

I feel your sadness, I feel your pain
I feel your sorrow, I feel your despair
You have been hurt, you have been abandoned
You feel alone, no-one cares
But I will come back with crystals to heal
Many others will follow my lead
Times are changing and soon will come
A time for strength so gather young seeds
And rise aloft like towers of gold
Stand tall once again, let your majesty reign
Times are changing, stand up for the truth
Love, peace and wisdom and freedom again
STAND UP, STAND UP, STAND UP, STAND UP
Photograph and words by Jan Brooks 02/01/2012
Be thankful for the sun, its warmth and light
Be thankful for the moon lighting up the night
Be thankful for the rain watering the land
Be thankful for the healing in your hands
Be thankful for your health and energy
Be thankful for your sight, what can you see?
Be thankful for the little things you take for granted
Be thankful for the things God has planted
Be thankful for the air you breathe each day
Be thankful for your voice, what do you say?
Be thankful for the world in which you live
Be thankful for the things you have to give
Be thankful for the love you feel
Be thankful for Reiki so surreal
Be thankful each minute of the day
Be thankful for the blessings which come your way
BE THANKFUL
words by Jan Brooks, August 2011
May you find peace, love and joy within your hearts
May fair weather be with you from the start
May each month bring pros-per-ity
Abundance flowing for you (and me)
May Angels open up your wings
And may you hear the Angels sing
May you remember who you are
And rise above just like a star
May you feel the earth beneath your feet
And feel the gentle but real heartbeat
May the oneness grow with each breath you take
May you see the miracle for your soul's sake
May you walk each day with faith, hope and love
May Angels guide you from Heaven above
And may you make a difference shining bright
And may you always be in the Light.
Lots of love always.

Through summer and autumn and winter and spring
Your magic goes on enchantment you bring
In the height of the summer your richness is best
Flowers in bloom and grass filled with zest
As autumn time comes your colour enhances
To pure gold and red I stare at your beauty entranced
And then comes the winter the ice and the snow
Your beauty continues all white and aglow
New life comes again as we move into spring
Coldness forgotten as warmth you bring
And so I give thanks for the flowers and trees
the shrubs and bamboo and all of the bees
The birds of the air with their beautiful song
The frogs in the pond as they sing along
I give thanks to the earth so soft under feet
And the wind on my face as I sit on my seat
I give thanks for the grass for its colour so green
the insects below so much still unseen
I also give thanks to the weeds for their part
They bring me out to the garden and connect with my heart
I give thanks for my dogs present, future and past
Their essence so pure true love that will last
Forever
And of course thanks for fairies and Angels so bright
They watch over all and bring in the light
And lastly I give thanks for the sun
Giving life with its light new day begun
So thanks be to God for all His creation
The rain that He brings watering the nation

Image: early morning snow
I stare at the moon high in the sky
Still, early morning, wondering why
I am here, what is the reason
My mind changing like the seasons
The snow on the ground so pure and so white
Lighting up the World at night
And as I walk on the frozen ground
I'm touched by the light all around
Showing me the way so clear
Purity and love, Angels are near
And I am like a shining star
Shining light near and far
Don't be afraid the Angels say
We are with you leading the way
Be pure and white like the fallen snow
Lead others by example as you go

Image: swimming
Separate from the crowd , alone I stand
Body broken up, saying nothing loud
A wall in front of me, nothing do I see
But inner vision shows where the brightness glows
Someone's lying there, don't just stand and stare
We are all the same these mind and body games
Just put ourselves to shame
The waves are stronger now someone tell me how
I can rise above see the beauty and the love
Penquins dancing there, dolphins in the air
Free within the sea let my soul just be
And now I see myself different from before
Rising with joy and light someone's opened the door
Swimming, swimming free - Hey look, this is me
